The 20th Annual International Orange Blossom Special Star Party, hosted by the St. Petersburg Astronomy Club, Inc. (SPAC), was a great success. We had 183 registered attendees, (the largest since leaving Hickory Hill). I want to thank everyone who has sent me their comments and suggestions. The con-sensus is; the weather did not cooperate, the food was great, the best ever swap meet, and the camaraderie could not be beat. We did get a fairly good night on Saturday. I saw my first, (to my knowledge), super nova in M-82.

I'm looking forward to an even larger attendance next year. You will want to register early as we used every available electrical hook-up. We have set the date for next year. February 11th through the 15th. Registration should open on October 1st and run through January 24th.

Please continue watching this webpage for additional information as it be-comes available.

The many amenities of Withlacoochee River Park include: darker skies, 30 acre activity field for camping and viewing (there is limited electricity and water hookups), room to roam, 1.7 mile paved multi-purpose trail, 13 miles of hiking trails, 40 foot observation tower, 3 wooden boardwalks, 2 playground areas for the kids, and river access for canoeing (must bring your own canoe/kayak). Fishing is permitted by boat or along the riverbank. Persons 16 years of age and older must have a valid Florida fishing license.
