The 20th Annual International Orange Blossom Special Star Party,
hosted by the St. Petersburg Astronomy Club, Inc. (SPAC), was a
great success. We had 183 registered attendees, (the largest since
leaving Hickory Hill). I want to thank everyone who has sent me
their comments and suggestions. The con-sensus is; the weather did
not cooperate, the food was great, the best ever swap meet, and
the camaraderie could not be beat. We did get a fairly good night
on Saturday. I saw my first, (to my knowledge), super nova in
I'm looking forward to an even larger attendance next
year. You will want to register early as we used every
available electrical hook-up. We have set the date for
next year. February 11th through the 15th. Registration
should open on October 1st and run through January 24th.

The many amenities of Withlacoochee River Park include: darker
skies, 30 acre activity field for camping and viewing (there is
limited electricity and water hookups), room to roam, 1.7 mile
paved multi-purpose trail, 13 miles of hiking trails, 40 foot
observation tower, 3 wooden boardwalks, 2 playground areas for the
kids, and river access for canoeing (must bring your own
canoe/kayak). Fishing is permitted by boat or along the riverbank.
